Project Description

$750,000 project to replace approximately 3,000 linear feet (LF) of 8" clay gravity sewer main with 8" PVC gravity sewer main and 13 existing manholes, reconnect approximately 32 sewer laterals, and incidental asphalt road reconstruction and overlay from the installation of the gravity sewer main along Live Oak Avenue West beginning at US 331 intersection to 23rd Street.

Funding 

$700,000 from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $50,000 from the City of DeFuniak Springs.   • September 28, 2020: City Council to consider change orders #1 & #2 allowing for additional replacement of asphalt due to a shift in placement of the new sanitary sewer line caused by an unknown gas main discovered during construction.
  • May 25, 2020:  RBM Contracting begins installation of new sewer main and manholes.
  • February 10, 2020: City Council approves low bidder RBM Contracting, LLC to install new sewer main, manholes, etc. for $690,937.52. Agenda item 10A.  Minutes page 4, 10A.

  • July 8, 2019: City Council approves agreement with Dewberry Engineers, Inc. for engineering services for the Live Oak Waste Water Improvements Project in the amount of $40,195.00 ($32,695 for engineering services and $7,500 for preparing Environmental Review Record) to be funded through the Community Development Block Grant.
  • June 6, 2019: City receives official notice of Grant Award/Fund Availability from Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.  Grantor is U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Award Name: Community Development Block Grant (CDGB).  Award Amount: $700,000.
  • May 28, 2019:  City Council votes to accept proposal submitted by Dewberry Engineers for engineering project supervision and inspection services.
