Permits
For funeral homes, contractors, and family members preparing for burials and/or work within Magnolia Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
- Current fees set by Resolution 2022-14.
Burial Permit Application for Funeral Homes: $850
Combined Burial and Work Permit applications to be completed by funeral home.
- Business must have an Occupational License in the City of DeFuniak Springs. If not, contact the DeFuniak Springs Planning Department at 850-892-8500, ext. 1116 or email planningassist@defuniaksprings.net for instructions.
- Complete Burial Permit Application Form.
- Submit.
- Once approved, the funeral home can pay online here or by delivering a check to the cemetery office at 222 North Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, M-F, during normal business hours. (850) 520-8169. This office is located on the cemetery grounds.
- Once payment is received, a Burial Permit will be emailed to the funeral home and a Burial Work Permit will be emailed to the business hired by the funeral home to prepare the burial site.
Non-Burial Related Work Permit Application: $150
For any business hired to install monuments and slabs (excluding Blocks K-R), coping / chipping (excluding Blocks K-S), cutting dates (no fee if within 12 months of the burial), cleaning / resetting monuments 90 days after a burial or not pertaining to a particular burial.

- Complete Non-Burial Related Work Permit Application.
- Submit.
- Once approved, the funeral home can pay online here or by delivering a check to the cemetery office at 222 North Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, M-F, during normal business hours. (850) 520-8169. This office is located on the cemetery grounds.
- Once payment is received, a Burial Permit will be emailed to the funeral home and a Burial Work Permit will be emailed to the business hired by the funeral home to prepare the burial site.
Cremains Burial Permit Application: $350
For any business hired to open/close a grave or niche for interment of cremains. Includes placement of markers related to cremains interment.
- Business must have an Occupational License in the City of DeFuniak Springs. If not, contact the DeFuniak Springs Planning Department at 850-892-8500, ext. 1116 or email planningassist@defuniaksprings.net for instructions.
- Business must complete Cremains Burial Permit Application.
- Submit.
- Once submitted, the cemetery coordinator will review and notify business by email if approved.
- Once approved, the contractor may pay online here.
- Payments by check can be delivered to the cemetery office at 222 North Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, M-F, during normal business hours. (850) 520-8169. This office is located on the cemetery grounds.
Disinterment / Reinterment Permit Application: $350
For funeral homes overseeing the disinterment / reinterment of human remains from/at Magnolia Cemetery.
- Funeral home must have an Occupational License in the City of DeFuniak Springs. If not, contact the DeFuniak Springs Planning Department at 850-892-8500, ext. 1116 or email planningassist@defuniaksprings.net for instructions.
- Funeral home must complete the Disinterment / Reinterment Permit Application.
- Submit.
- Once submitted, the cemetery coordinator will review and notify business by email if approved.
- Once approved, the contractor may pay online here.

FAMILY Permit for Cremains and Markers Application:
No permit fee.
For relatives of a loved one interred at Magnolia Cemetery who either wish to place a marker themselves on a loved one's burial site and/or open/close a gravesite to place a loved one's cremains into a burial site. In this case, no business is hired to handle any of these activities. However, the family may still hire a funeral home or business to perform a service at the burial site as long as that funeral home or business is not handling the placement of the marker or the placement of cremains in the final resting place.
- Relative must complete the FAMILY Permit for Cremains and Markers Application.
- Once submitted, the cemetery foreman will review and notify relative by email if approved.
- No payment is collected for this approved permit.
