Mayor Statement:

I chose to run for Mayor of this city because I feel a strong commitment to building on the legacy of many of the Mayors who have gone before us. My grandfather, W.O.Campbell, served as mayor of DeFuniak from 1957 to 1960. His legacy and others as well as that of our previous Mayor Harold Carpenter, are examples to me of integrity, professionalism and respect. That is the tradition upon which I will diligently pursue for both the Mayor’s office and those responsible to govern our great city.

I’ve heard the concerns of many of the parents in this community, the same concerns our parents had. “How can this community provide quality jobs for our children so they don’t have to leave the area to secure sustainable employment?” This is why seeking ways to attract clean industry/commercial business is one of my priorities. These jobs mean more families; more families mean more restaurants and recreational establishments.

For this to happen, it will require working cooperatively with our county officials, school board, cities, tourism development, economic development alliance, pastors, business leaders, volunteers, and the community at large. I am committed to promoting cooperation and unity for the whole sector.

I love DeFuniak Springs and Walton County as many of you do. Let us join together selflessly to make our community one of the best in the country.
