Todd Bierbaum
Born and raised in Florida, William Todd Bierbaum is a native of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, graduated from Walton High School, Class of 2000 and attended Northwest Florida State University. He and his wife, Amanda, make their home in DeFuniak and are proud to be new small business owners in the Historic Downtown Business District. With extensive business experience in Information Technology (IT) Management and Systems, Todd applies his expertise in problem solving and his leadership in solution-based management to all facets of life. With work experience in both the public and private sectors, Todd is uniquely equipped to partner with other city leaders in casting a vision for the future of DeFuniak Springs.
Todd's background in the field of information technology began as a part-time high school job working as a tech support representative for DFS Internet and has led to employment opportunities ranging from individuals and small businesses to government agencies and multinational corporations. During Todd's career he has gained an understanding of the expectations and demands of public service, and he envisions encouraging the implementation of the LEAN process into the day-to-day operations of the city. The LEAN process seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement by asking those directly involved in the work to evaluate how to eliminate waste. Todd believes that a fresh perspective and innovative ideas can help solve difficult problems.
Todd comes from a proud line of small business owners in DeFuniak Springs and his entrepreneurial roots run deep. His grandparents, Bill and JoAnn Bierbaum, owned and operated McLean’s Florist for many years, and Todd’s stepfather, David White, owned Consolidated Builders, Inc. Todd currently owns his own IT consulting business and he and his wife, Amanda, opened a boutique florist and party supply business in Historic Downtown DeFuniak Springs.
A committed and involved member of the community, Todd serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The Florida Chautauqua, Inc., and serves as their sound and technical engineer. He is also a member of Destiny Worship Center where he has served as leader of the Media Department.
Todd believes that small businesses are the lifeblood of a thriving downtown and are an essential component of a strong community, as well. As a City Councilman, Todd seeks to strengthen established businesses while encouraging an environment that will attract new growth. With a city in an exciting stage of expansion and development, Todd understands the vital importance of planning for this growth by building the necessary infrastructures in order to insure that the next generation can experience the best that our historic city has to offer.
