Driver Avoids Stray Dog, Strikes Guy Wire

Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a traffic crash near Aidmore Animal Clinic on Monday, February 14th, 2011 at approximately 7:20 PM. Officers arrived and found a 1994 Red Chevrolet Truck overturned and on a power line guy-wire. The driver, 62 year old Rex Scott, of Ponce De Leon, advised that he was heading West on Baldwin Avenue when a stray dog darted out in front of his vehicle. He swerved to avoid the dog and ran into a guy-wire attached to a Gulf Power utility pole.
Scott was not injured and no other persons were involved. The truck sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages. Gulf Power personnel reported approximately $400 in damages to the guy-wire. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in this unfortunate traffic crash. No charges are being filed.
