DeFuniak Springs Police responded to Roehm Preschool at approximately 1PM on Monday in reference to a man threatening his girlfriend with a gun. Officers arrived to find a female victim upset and a male subject nearby. Further questioning revealed that 20 year old Joshua Carpenter, of DeFuniak Springs, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend over arriving late. Carpenter reportedly pointed a pistol at her and said he would shoot her if she didn’t shut-up. A .45 caliber BB gun replica, equipped with a mock silencer was located inside of the vehicle that Carpenter was driving. Carpenter was also found to have an active warrant for Criminal Mischief. He was taken into custody and transported to the Walton County Jail. Carpenter was charged with Aggravated Assault and the charges stemming from the warrant. The victim was not physically injured in the incident and no children observed the violence.
