With the holidays nearing closer every day, DeFuniak Springs Police would like to remind you of some important safety tips to help keep you safe. Chief Mark Weeks added “this is a joyous time of year where families come together and we celebrate the beginning of a new year. These tips are not new, but they are important safeguards for every day of the year, especially with the recent attacks on our nation's citizens. We just want everyone to have a safe and happy holidays.”
HIDE IT - Hide your valuables in your vehicle out of sight
TAKE IT - Take your keys with you to prevent theft of your vehicle
LOCK IT - Lock your vehicle to deter theft
Additional Tips:
• Keep your vehicle locked and packages out of sight
• Park in a safe place with good lighting
• Ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your property
• Choose a designated driver – Don’t Drink & Drive
• Leave the lights on and request security checks from the Police Department
• If you see suspicious activity, call Police
SEE SOMETHING – SAY SOMETHING!
With the terroristic acts recently, law enforcement everywhere will be on alert this season for possible plots to harm citizens of this great nation, but we can’t do it alone.
