[ARCHIVED] LOCAL COUPLE ARRESTED WITH ECSTASY, BRINGING CHILDREN TO A DRUG DEAL

The DeFuniak Springs Police have arrested Robert Glenn Garrison (25 years old) and Kelli Michelle Peak (19 years old) in connection with a March 16th, Wednesday afternoon narcotics investigation. Both Garrison and Peak were stopped by an officer conducting a traffic stop, while riding in a Gold Nissan Automobile, which was traveling in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Circle Drive, in DeFuniak Springs. Upon approaching the vehicle, it was also determined that two small children were seated in the rear of the automobile. One child was not properly restrained (Child Restraint / Seat Belt).

During the course of the traffic stop, the DeFuniak Springs K-9 Unit was deployed and the K-9 did give a positive alert on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed several multi-colored tablets, identified by officers as MDMA / Ecstasy. Both suspects also gave verbal omissions to officers that they had recently smoked Marijuana and when questioned further, told officers of their intent to sell the Ecstasy Tabs to unidentified subject(s) for approximately $15.00 per tablet.

Officers transported the two small children to the police department where they were later released to their mother (not involved in the original incident). Both Garrison and Peak were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA / Ecstasy) with Intent to Distribute and Child Neglect. Garrison is a recent prison release from the Florida Department of Corrections and had relocated to the DeFuniak Springs area. The Department of Children and Family Services was notified of the incident. The investigation is on-going and no further information is available at this time.
