[ARCHIVED] CONCERNED CITIZEN REPORTS DRUG DEALERS IN APARTMENT COMPLEX

A citizen called DeFuniak Springs Police around 9 a.m. Saturday to report drugs being sold out of a Mustang parked at Oakdale Garden Apartments. Officers arrived to find two men in the vehicle. As Officers questioned the occupants of the vehicle, the back seat passenger threw a large hat in the lap of the driver to conceal something. Upon questioning, the driver exited the vehicle and dropped a plastic baggie containing Marijuana on the ground. He picked it up and tossed it onto the seat of the vehicle. The passenger then exited the vehicle and began to walk away. Officers were able to detain 25 year old Joseph Beeler and 26 year old Tiyari Hogan for possession of drugs. A search of the vehicle and both subjects revealed more Marijuana, scales, a loaded 9 mm pistol, Tramadol pills, and a small amount of Methamphetamine. Both Beeler and Hogan were arrested and charged with drug possession and distribution. They were booked into the Walton County Jail and received a $15,000 bond. “The fact that the two had a gun and were in a family complex with kids all around is disturbing. This is a great example of how our Citizens are vital in crime prevention and prosecution. I appreciate the work of the Officers in getting these drugs and gun off the street,” said Chief Mark Weeks.
