DeFuniak Springs Officers were called to North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview on Thursday, April 21st, 2011 at approximately 12PM to investigate possible child abuse. Department of Children and Families personnel advised that a 5 week old female infant had been severely burned on her legs while her Mother was cooking. Investigators arrived as the infant was being flown from North Okaloosa Medical Center to a burn center in Georgia. The investigation revealed that the incident occurred at Chautauqua Apartments in DeFuniak Springs and was accidental in nature. No charges are being sought in this traumatic and unfortunate accident.
