[ARCHIVED] DISABLED VEHICLE CALL LEADS TO ARREST FOR “HALF A BRICK” OF MARIJUANA

Benny Macias

DeFuniak Springs Police were called to the scene of a disabled vehicle Saturday evening on Shoemaker Drive.  Officers arrived to find a vehicle in the roadway and another on the side of the road with the hood up.  Contact was made with four individuals who appeared intoxicated.  Further investigation revealed that the male subjects had been drinking and had an open container of beer in the vehicle.  The driver consented to a search of the vehicle in which a duffle bag was located in the back seat.  A search of the bag revealed a large amount of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  One of the occupants, 33 year old Benny Frank Macias of DeFuniak Springs, admitted that the approximate half a pound of cannabis was his.  Macias was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail and booked on charges of felony possession of Marijuana.  At the time of this release, Macias was being held on $100,000 bond for the Marijuana and given no-bond on previous charges.
