DeFuniak Springs Police were called to the area around the DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport after reports of a vehicle crash. While responding, information was received that the vehicle had been involved in a traffic crash moments before just outside of the city limits on U.S. Highway 331 North. According to a witness with the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, a driver of a red Kia SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lane and almost struck an ambulance and a fire truck. The driver of another vehicle stated she was northbound U.S. Highway 331 North and was forced to the right shoulder of the roadway as V-1 struck her left rear quarter panel causing damage. The firefighter with Liberty Volunteer Fire Department stated he turned around and followed the hit and run driver southbound as he ran the red light at U.S. Highway 90. The vehicle ended up crossing over the railroad tracks and coming to a stop. The firefighter stated that he checked on the driver and found Randall Winfield Bray behind the wheel. Bray was given field sobriety tests and determined to be impaired by alcohol. He was transported to the Walton County Jail for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Bray gave breath samples that indicated he was almost 3 times the legal limit for DUI. Bray was booked on charges of DUI and Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash. Bray is currently being held on a $2,500 bond as of this release. Thankfully, no injuries occurred during the crash.
