Communications Media Technology –Instructions to Follow

Note: Due to the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Federal, State, County, and the City’s Declarations of State of Emergency, and City of DeFuniak Springs Emergency Order, the City of DeFuniak Springs will be calling meetings only when necessary, and conducting public meetings using Communications Media Technology (CMT) until the Emergency Order is lifted.  Those wishing to attend meetings are encouraged to join the meeting only through electronic means.  Pursuant to Executive Order No. 20-69, issued by the Office of Governor Ron Desantis on March 20, 2020, municipalities may conduct meetings of their governing boards without having a quorum of its members present physically or at any specific location and utilizing Communications Media Technology (CMT).

BE IT ACKNOWLEDGED, that I, Maryanne Schrader, duly qualified City Clerk of the City of DeFuniak Springs and as such Official, I am the keeper of the records and files of the Municipality and the Corporate Authorities and as the City Clerk, I do affirm that the above meeting notice was forwarded to the officially registered news media and posted on the bulletin board located in the lobby of City Hall pursuant to the requirements of the Sunshine Law.

Florida Statute 286.0105. Notices of meetings and hearings must advise that a record is required to appeal.—Each board, commission, or agency of this state or of any political subdivision thereof shall include in the notice of any meeting or hearing, if notice of the meeting or hearing is required, of such board, commission, or agency, conspicuously on such notice, the advice that, if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
