[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE RESPONDS TO AN ALLEGED SELF INFLICTED GUNSHOT

On July 27th, 2011, in the early afternoon the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a alleged self inflicted gunshot wound.

Members from the DeFuniak Springs arrived at the residence of 236 Bay Avenue and were met by the caller, Donald G. Miller. The victim, Bea Kay Pentzer, 61 years of age, was found inside of the residence with what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound to the lower chest area. Pentzer show no signs of life and was pronounced dead by Walton County Fire Rescue. DeFuniak Springs Fire Department and the State Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO) were also on scene.

This incident is still under investigation, however no foul play is suspected at this time. Additional information will be released at a later date.
