[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE ARREST ROBBER SUSPECT FROM MURPHY OIL USA

On Wednesday, January 18th 2012, at approximately 9:40pm, DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a call of an Armed Robbery at Murphy Oil USA, 1224 Freeport Road, DeFuniak Springs Florida.

Upon arrival, officers were notified by the clerk on duty that an unknown female subject approached the clerk at the attendant window and produced a note demanding money, along with displaying a knife, threatening the clerk.

The clerk did not give in to the subjects demands and the subject left the area on foot, walking to a vehicle where she made her escape.

Officers on scene worked quickly to obtain evidence to establish the identity of the female. Officer’s, with the assistance of deputies with Walton County Sheriff’s Office, were able to identify the suspect as Alicia McGovern.

While conducting the investigation and attempting to locate the suspect, DeFuniak Springs Police responded to an additional call involving a female subject on County Road 83 / Walton Road.

Responding officers observed a vehicle that matched the description of the robbery vehicle and then made a positive identification of the female subject.

The female subject, identified as Alicia Marie McGovern of DeFuniak Springs, was detained at the scene and officers were able to locate and recover the knife from McGovern’s vehicle.

McGovern was transported to the Walton County Department of Corrections, where she was booked on Charges of Robbery with a weapon.
