[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE “UPDATE ON TRAFFIC FATALITY”

On Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at approximately 5:30 AM Officers from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to U.S. Highway 331 South and I-10 to a tragic traffic crash.

In the original release it was reported that the Chevrolet car overturned after colliding with the Semi-Tractor Trailer. Investigation proved otherwise.

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo being driven by Andrea Hoffman aka Kristin McQueen of Holmes County was traveling in the outside lane of U.S. Highway 331 South. The Semi-Tractor Trailer being driven by Timothy Odom of Georgia was crossing U.S. Highway 331 South onto the west bound on-ramp of I-10 when the car collided with the trailer. The car steered off the roadway, crossing a concrete ditch, and continued to travel in a western direction adjacent to I-10 west bound.

The driver Hoffman aka McQueen and the rear seat passenger Billy Wayne Donaldson of Holmes County was killed instantly. A third passenger only known as Rebecca at the time of this update was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with injuries and possible unrelated medical issues.

Further details will be released upon the completion of the Investigation. The Florida Highway Patrol is assisting DeFuniak Springs Police in the investigation.
