[ARCHIVED] “DROP THE DRUGS”

The 2nd Annual “Drop the Drugs” took place on June 16, 2012. The event was held in two separate locations: Members from DeFuniak Springs Police were at the DeFuniak Springs Wal-Mart from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office was at the Santa Rosa Beach Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event was geared towards educating the public about the dangers of prescription medication and how the community can help in the fight against misuse of prescription medication. These dangerous drugs will be taken to an incinerator and properly disposed of.

Members from the DeFuniak Springs Police would like to thank the citizens of DeFuniak Springs and Wal-Mart for their support in making this the biggest “DROP THE DRUGS” event ever in DeFuniak Springs.

“The amount of dangerous drugs collected was over whelming during this much needed event”. “It’s our job to do our part in keeping these dangerous drugs from ending up in the wrong hands” Chief Mark A. Weeks said.
