[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE CAPTURES ALLIGATOR AND RELEASES TO A SAFE ENVIRONMENT


On April 18, 2013 at approximately 2:15 p.m. members from DeFuniak Springs Police responded to Shoemaker Drive in reference to an alligator in the roadway.

Upon arrival Sergeant Bayne and Officer Jones located the approximately 3 foot reptile. They were able to capture it without being harmed or harming it. The quick response by the officers removed the possibility of the reptile causing harm to the residents in the area.

Officers made contact with Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for authorization to relocate. Following the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recommendation, the reptile was transported by officers to the Juniper Lake area and safely release.
