[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE RESPOND TO SEVERAL BURGLARIES

Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to several burglaries that occurred over the past weekend. The Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood , also known as the “Chautauqua Building,” was forcibly entered through one of the rear doors. Once inside, the unknown suspect(s) then forced open the door leading into the Walton County Chamber of Commerce Office, busting it off of its hinges. Desk drawers and other items were rummaged through before the suspect(s) left with a small amount of money, a digital camera, and some cold medication.

The exterior door to the main building sustained little to no damage. Damage to the interior door is estimated at $50.00.

Officers also responded to two unrelated vehicle burglaries where some electronics and tools were taken. The victims reported finding the thefts when they went to leave for work this morning. No signs of forced entry were observed and the vehicles were possibly left unsecured.

The Office of the City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police urges citizens and visitors to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent thefts.
