[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE INVESTIGATES VEHICLE CRASH WITH INJURIES


On September 10, 2013 officers from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a vehicle crash involving three (3) vehicles. The location of this crash was at the intersection of Highway 331 and Live Oak Avenue.

Driver one who was operating a 2010 Acura was transported to Sacred Heart Emerald Cost Hospital for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Driver two who was operating a1998 Mercury was flown by helicopter to Bay Medical Hospital (Sacred Heart affiliated) with multiple injuries and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the third vehicle, Honda Accord, was checked by Emergency Medical Staff (EMS) on scene and released.

Initial Investigation revealed that the Acura was traveling northbound on Highway 331 and failed to yield at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue. The Acura struck the Mercury that was traveling east on Live Oak on the passenger side causing the two vehicles to spin clockwise into the Honda Accord that was slowed /stopped waiting to make a left turn off of East Live Oak onto Highway 331 South. The investigation is still ongoing.
