[ARCHIVED] VICTIMS RECEIVE CITIZENS AWARDS

The victims in a failed Robbery attempt were honored today with Citizens Awards given by Chief Mark Weeks. The two young ladies pictured were recognized for their bravery in thwarting an attempt by a man trying to rob them of a $1000. One of the victims displayed a can of pepper spray, as the suspect tried to enter their vehicle. The suspect then fled the area. The victims were able to provide a good description and were very helpful in identifying the suspect. 28 year old Bobby Lee Chaney was arrested over the weekend after citizens, including the victims, recognized Chaney. Chief Weeks was very gracious to have the assistance of the victims and other citizens in identifying the suspect. His hope that others would want to come forward, should they witness or become victim to a crime.
