Big yellow buses, children gathering, and school bells ringing are fast approaching! Students will return to Walton County Schools on August 10th and DeFuniak Springs Police want this school year to be safe and productive.
Motorized vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrian traffic will have an increased presence, especially around our schools. DeFuniak Springs Police would like to remind motorists to watch for kids crossing the street and walking near the roadway. Allow more time to drop off children during the first few days of school and be aware that children may be in your blind spot. Check your back seat when you arrive to ensure no kids get left behind. When school buses are stopped with their red lights flashing, drivers should stop on both sides of the road to allow loading and unloading.
DeFuniak Springs Police believe your children’s safety is a top priority. Please drive safely and buckle-up!
