A Safety Sobriety Checkpoint hosted by DeFuniak Springs Police was a successful operation to target traffic violations. Westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 90 West was temporarily diverted Friday evening into the Northwest Florida State College parking lot to allow Officers to check drivers for sobriety, valid license, registration, insurance, and vehicle operability. Approximately 330 vehicles came through the checkpoint. Several drivers were issued citations for expired registrations. Several people were charged with driving without a valid driver's license. One vehicle was towed for not having a valid registration.
DeFuniak Springs Police would like to thank Hungry Howies and the Florida Department of Transportation for their assistance.
